Kuala Lumpur

The name literally means "where two muddy rivers meet", but everyone calls KL.

The capital of Malaysia is kind of the middle of 800 ponds and malarial swamps, at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers. There were layers of tin that attracted legions of adventurers in China. KL soon became a melting pot of easy wealth, violence and depravity, that "the Kuala Impure" described by Jean Cocteau, among brothels and opium dens.
But the current reality is quite different: the KL today is a city of lights and flower gardens, skyscrapers (Petronas Towers are the tallest in the world), companies "hi-tech" and elevated highways, with a huge new airport , built in 1998. Are also the ancient palaces, mosques white stucco and bicycle rickshaw, Peeping in heavy traffic.

Hong Kong

The name is a transcription of the western local pronunciation of Mandarin Xiang gang, which means "port of incense." Hong Kong Chinese is therefore one hundred per cent, from 30 May 1997 also politically, at the end of 99 years of "rent" by the British. And it is western in all respects, with the forest of skyscrapers, the hustle and bustle of business, traffic, luxury cars, lavish hotels, the subway was spotless. The territory is made up of over 250 islands, beginning with that of Hong Kong, Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories, with a total area of one thousand square kilometers, inhabited by six and a half million people. We land in the new airport, opened with some great technical difficulty a couple of years ago, which still forces still large aircraft to some slalom between the skyscrapers. From the top you can see at a glance the bay of Aberdeen, with junks on which six thousand people live, that ripples with waves stirred by tugs, which lights up at night with the reflection of the skyscrapers of steel and glass, such as very high (369 meters) of the Bank of China. Koowlon is the area most frequented by tourists, with famous hotels, an impressive number of restaurants, the Museum of History and Space Museum, shops, markets and flea markets. Take the ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island, where there is the Victoria Peak, (400 meters), also reached by tram running from Garden Road. You should go there twice during the day to see the bay, the mountains, the Peninsula, the mainland, and night, to see Hong Kong lit. An unforgettable sight.

Helsinki

The city owes its fortunes to the Baltic Sea, its climate and its impressive architecture and lively.
The sea below our visitors, passing roads and bridges, clearing a path in residential areas, creating bays and natural harbors.
Just over a century ago there were still animals (including wolves) that roamed the streets of downtown, almost all wooden buildings dating from before 1808 were destroyed by fire.

Helsinki is a modern metropolis quiet and still under development: the face of the fishermen of the port that it is only recently took place in the process of urbanization. The railway station has replaced the port as a node of city life and is a good starting point for a visit (the most interesting places are just a short distance from here).
